Mission & Vision

• Paschimbanga Bangla Akademi came into being with the objective of promoting the study of different aspects of Bengali language and literature, and encouraging research on Bengali script, spelling, lexiconography, terminology etc.
•  In organizing annual literary festival both in Kolkata and districts, seminars and symposiums on literary traditions and legacies, Akademi endeavours to maintain close contact with current trends of literary and linguistic activities and movements.
• Paschimbanga Bangla Akademi is the apex learned body reflecting the ceaseless care of the State for Bengali language, literature and culture. In the arena of publication, preservation and promotion Akademi is determined to attain the highest standard to justify its role.
• Moreover, though the activities of Akademi revolve around Bengali language and literature, the institution took upon itself the mission to establish an interface with other languages and language- communities of the world.
